Travel. Unique Christmas Markets and Events You Should Visit to Stand Out!

Christmas is coming, and surely we excited about visiting Christmas markets, Christmas events, and different places to feel the spirit of our long-awaited winter holiday. Every year I have a tradition to share with you some unique Christmas markets and events you might never heard.

1. Christmas in Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire

I was lucky to visit this incredible Palace this Autumn (will make a post soon), and visiting its Christmas market can be one of the most memorable experiences. First, this Palace is mostly unknown to tourists, so you will lose yourself among locals and feel the real spirit of the Oxfordshire countryside.

Christmas at Blenheim Palace is not a traditional Christmas market, this is a fair, a street-court, a Christmas garden, and Christmas show – everything in one place. Can you imagine you will have dinner and see a Christmas show (this year it is an Alice in Wonderland), and see an incredible Christmas Lights Trail show in front of the Palace and snowy gardens in Christmas lights. Highly recommend renting an apartment or hotel in Woodstock, which is a lovely countryside in the Oxfordshire.

2. Outstanding Christmas Market in Ravenna, Germany

When it comes to Christmas markets to visit, we always mention German markets. But, I wanted to find the most outstanding Christmas markets in Germany, and tell you about this one. This Christmas market is located in a gorge, right under the railway viaduct of the Devil‘s Valley Railway in the Black Forest Highlands, Hochschwarzwald’s Christmas village.

The market has all that Christmas market stuff like crafts, street-food, different entertainments, and embraces its rustic Black Forest heritage. I think this is the most outstanding Christmas market you can imagine.

3. Magic Christmas Village in Colmar, France

We all dream about a perfect Christmas village, don’t we? I think I found one in France, in the village not far from Strasbourg. The name of the village is Colmar. Full of gingerbread houses, Christmas lights and decorations, markets, fairs, concerts…Christmas magic! There is a famous food market in Place de la Cathédrale, also visit Place de l’Ancienne Douane and Place Jeanne d’Arc, a children’s Christmas market named La Petite Venise, and craft market at the town’s Renaissance Koïfhus building.

4. Scandinavian Unique Christmas Market in Gothenberg, Sweden

I couldn’t pass by this stylish, arty, Scandinavian Christmas market in Sweden. I was looking for something different we usually see on Christmas markets and Christmas events. Something with art twist, creative, stylish, and outstanding.

For me, Scandinavian countries, especially Sweden are a mecca of creativity, great style, and Lagom (perfect amount of anything, not too much and not too little).

This Christmas market held in the Liseberg Amusement Park in the centre of Gothenberg. This is the largest Christmas market in Scandinavia, full of arty Christmas decorations that remind art-installations with our favourite minimalistic Scandinavian design.

5. Christmas in Tivoli Gardens, CopenhagenDenmark

Another Nordic Christmas place to celebrate your best Christmas days.

Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park and pleasure garden in Copenhagen, Denmark. The park opened on 15 August 1843 and is the second-oldest operating amusement park in the world, after Dyrehavsbakken in nearby Klampenborg, also in Denmark. (Wiki)

For me this garden is a place with unexpectable for Scandinavian countries architecture, there is a beautiful pond with Pirate Ship, and other incredible things you can see there. During Christmas time, you can visit its fairs and markets, as well as some Christmas shows like a parade inside the garden.
