My previous article was about my trip to Luxembourg, and now I would like to share my experience in Belgium. In this article, I will mention Ghent and Leuven, and the next post is going to be about Bruges.

My Belgium Tour
Belgium – Leuven
I’ve been living in Leuven, in my friends’ apartment which was very similar to the one I stayed in Luxembourg. Modern. Stylish. And minimalist. This was a typical European small city, with people on bicycles with large scarfs.
To clarify, Leuven is located in the ‘Holland part’ of Belgium and is the capital of the province of Flemish Brabant in Belgium. Just one hour on a train from Brussels. The city itself is very small, with traditional for Belgium beautiful square. Very similar to Brussels and Bruges. Leuven is famous for a big company SUNinBev where the company is located. The city doesn’t have many places for hanging out or cultural events, but at the same time this is a student city, so there is a youth vibe there.
What I can say about the food there…the restaurants are good but a bit too classic, so more for, let it say, ‘wiser and more mature’ generation. Or for those who prefer a decent dinner with a glass of wine. Also there are lots of pubs there. Beer is great and OH MY GOD waffles are soo great! And sure you need to try chocolate and French fries, they definitely deserve their fame.
By the way, there are really great shops there. Some brands from France, Germany, Holland, and Belgium. There is a very good choice for the winter-autumn seasons especially. I advise visiting The Sting, there is some cool youth spirit stuff, BullBoxer, actually you will see all of them in the center.
So, Leuven is located one hour from Ghent on a train.
Belgium – Ghent

The city center is bigger than Bruges, and also has its beautiful square, small shops, ancient churches and buildings.

As you see from above, the weather was great in Ghent, but here some incredible photo shots from day 2 in Ghent, where the city had a Gothic weather.
